[Custom Map] Bank Robbery

Postby zombiekillerpl » Mon Dec 29, 2014 4:54 pm

So guys! It's finally here! First version of my first map ever! It's fully playable and I've tried to fix all bugs I've found.
This is small bank with 3 different entrances, guards have to act quick in order to prepare for incoming attack.
Map includes: 1 custom door, 4 glass windows, 4 doors, 1 destructible wall (cover vent in main room), 1 easter egg, 1 pickup, 1 zipline, 1 ladder, 1 goal point!

Screenshots:

Update 1# "Why use doors when you could use roof?!"
1. Added roof entrance
2. Moved guards spawn
3. Added outside cover
4. PIZZA!
5. Some details work
6. Additonal window by entrance, to improve look and feel of the bank

Update 2# "F*ck roof! Lets get in thru the wall!"
1. Destructible wall
2. Vent cover (You can't get through it, but you can throw grenades or smoke through it)
3. FIXED GODDAMNIT ROPE KILLING, This time I've made sure to fix that
4. Keypad, paper note with code, and locked door\
5. Plants
----
I think I'll move on from this map to another, this time something more bigger, and better looking. This might take me few weeks.

I'm not sure how to properly import from Stetchup, but you can re-size doors. Just don't make them too big because they might look weird. :P

Yeah, I'd agree about being careful resizing doors. I just took some measurements, and it looks like doors are .89 meters wide, and about 2.15 meters tall, so you can probably use that to get doors the right size in sketchup.

Also, if you need to scale something easily in Unity, you can press R when it's selected, then drag the bars that appear to stretch/shrink it in certain directions. Or you can edit the scale values in the Inspector manually (which might be useful for very small adjustments).

Anyways, good luck on your map!

Thank you guys for quick reply.
Well, what about players models? How tall are they? I need to scale the building, and I don't want to make it weird.
And it seems that I made the doorways too small, they're 1 meter wide and 2 meters tall, I'll try to scale doors to them.
Anyway, can I somehow make custom door? Like external model, but tag it as a door?

//Edit:

I played some matches on your map, I need to say it's impressive, good job man :)
And thanks for wishing me luck, I'll try to make it look decent :3

I think player models are normal height, so around 1.7 meters. Yes, you can make custom models for doors- I haven't done any, but you can look at the Demo level to see an example (it comes with Intruder MM, so you can open it up in Unity and see exactly how they work). I believe the doors are the plain rectangles in one of the corners.

I'll use this thread as my map progress, if admins don't mind :)

Update 1: http://puu.sh/dOAtn/c5755c5359.jpg
Building nearly finished, I need to give it some textures and furnitures, It will take some time. (1 easter egg in it :)
What needs to be finished?
1. Furnitures, details and textures
2. I'll try to make "skeleton" for destructible wall, I've saw "destructible" tag in unity, and I wonder how it works :)
3. Import it into unity and add doors, windows, vents covers, spawns. In short; test it!
Any suggestions?

There is a CustomDoor prefab which is just a white door, no details. It can be any size and probably have any texture applied. :)

Okay, another problem.
What file extension is the best for importing things into Unity? You know, with colliding walls or textures.

I'm not sure what extension is best, since I don't use sketchup right now, but you can add the collision mesh if you select it in Unity and go to "Add Component->Physics->Mesh Collider". Also, I'd suggest not making the furniture in the same model as the building. Make them separately (or find some online), then add them in Unity, and it'll be MUCH easier to make small changes.

Yeah, I just learned that hard-way.
Update 2: http://puu.sh/dP1bV/917526942e.jpg
Actually got building into the game, I'll remove furniture as iceman said, time to look for some copyright-free models :)

I'll fly thousand miles just to give you a high five, thanks man!
I'll put you in credits :)
Update 3: I found proper way of exporting and importing things into unity, now I need to learn ways of tagging items and stuff.
Made a building higher, since it was felling uncomfy ingame to be tall almost like building.

Looking good. You should add a small attic for a crawl-space or vent that can be used for an escape or a stealthy entrance. :)

Thank you, Rekedens, tho I've tried to make vent covers openable using custom doors, but it's just simply too hard for me, I'll try to do it again, but I can't promise anything :)
VIDEO UPDATE!

Enjoy! And remember, send me some suggestions! :)

Thank you! Now after that I added some furniture and textures it looks even better!
Now I'm working on lighting, this will take some time.

The map looks very promising. Also love the song, have you heard the Solemn Old dubstep remix? It's on one of their albums, it's cool.

I've made the room, but it seems that developers didin't included camera script in their asset, I'll have to look for some tutorials.

Thank you. :) I'll check it out in free time!

Things to do:
Lighting.
Cameras.
Other building.
Background buildings.

//Edit 1

I've tried doing the cameras by putting render texture on new material, first result was positive, it was working. Then I tried to make second camera, weird bug happen, sky was transformed into camera receiver, so, what was going on camera, that was going on sky.
Deleted both, tried again and... It didin't work! Security room will be added in future, not now :)
