The Map Maker Wish List

Post any features you want in future versions of the Intruder MapMaker!

To start us off, I think it would be great to be able to move the water level during a match. Also, being able to write our own scripts to change gameplay is another fun idea for the distant future.

Custom Scripts!

Explosions to active stuff (like trigger by shot or use)

Dynamic Water Level!

Water as an object, for pools and such!

Every weapon/tool as a pick up.
Im an Asshole, but you can be damn sure i know more about firearms than you.

Models that are already in the game.
Desks, chairs, cabinets, etc.

Hard to find good models that have the same art style as Intruder.

Materials used in Riverside and cliffside
Common objects, such as desks, chairs, and plants
Sound effects that are already in Intruder
Ability to re-size the goal points and the like, instead of having it server sided

I'm trying to come out with assets and props in the Intruder style, still planning on releasing more

Scripts are problematic, since it could potentially give the map maker the possibility to run malicious stuff from maps. We're talking removing your entire local drive abilities here. There may be ways to counteract this, but I wouldn't count on it being added anytime soon.

Especially functional or identical models, such as preplaced cardboard cutouts or boxes.

You can write all the scripts you want in unity but they won't get exported along with the map (for security or compatibility reasons or whatever)

A few more things to add:
  • Let objects entering a zone trigger it, not just players (think of the purple zone in the demo and the spheres in moonbase)
  • Actual offline testing
  • Limit on how far a door can open

What do you know, a few more
  • Security cameras and monitors (like Riverside)
  • Mirrors
  • More than 2 briefcases (see BankHeist)
  • Computers to hack (see Cliffside)
  • Add a "Team X wins" feature in activators, to let us have our own win conditions (Such as reach a certain point to win for races, shoot the final target to win in a shooting contest, etc.)
  • Descriptions for uploaded maps

Not just descriptions for maps, but some sort of rating/most-downloads sorting for the map list. Want new players to see oceanside and such before some random work in progress or joke map. (i'd vote for download count over ratings, too soon for that kinda judgy thing)

I mentioned this to Rob, but I guess I forgot to say it here. Along with the popularity sorting you suggested, I think there should be "Recently Updated" (same as now), "Recently Added" (updates don't move to the top), and "Top Picks", which would be a few maps RobStorm picks that would stay up there permanently.

RenderTextures would be great - I tried them but they seem to just display random textures instead of the linked camera.

Intruder props are a must have - I've been trying hard to match my map to default Intruder ones but it's extremely difficult to get it right. Stuff like labs, toilets, desks, plants would be great.

I really like the new activators, but they made me think of something else that we could use in MM. It would be extremely handy if we could store integer variables somehow, and then let activators add to or subtract from them. That would make it a whole lot easier to do something like Cliffside objectives or anything similar, like a mode where Intruders have to reach 4 of 5 zones, or a racing mode that tracks laps, or...

Going along with that, it would be convenient if you could somehow access that variable to put it on a texture, to show how many computers you've hacked or what lap you're on. No idea how feasible that would be, though, and it's not as big of a concern.

I mentioned this in chat, but I'll just put it here for the record. I would love it if pickups were expanded with more options. It would be nice if there were pickups for all equipment, and it would be amazing if there were also ammo pickups that you could choose what type and how much ammo they would give.
